Hi, I’m Thuy (Twee), author and owner of Twist of Fate Travel. Why did I choose this name for my travel blog? Years ago, my husband, Troy, and I met as college interns in Washington, DC! By a twist of fate, two college students, attending universities in different states, met on the Metro in Washington, DC. When you travel and open yourself up to possibilities, anything can happen!
I am Vietnamese-American. At the age of four, I arrived in the U.S. as a war refugee. I’ve lived most of my life in the U.S.: Hawaii, New Jersey, California, Virginia, Illinois, Arizona, and Indiana. Vietnam is on my bucket list of travel destinations.
In my previous career, I was a university professor in education. Yes, that makes me Dr. Thuy! Today, Troy and I live in northern California with our 2 children. We enjoyed international travels before having kids and now that our kids are older, we instill the excitement of making travel memories as a family.
Troy and I have wonderful memories of Washington, DC and we go back every few years. It’s a great place for families to learn about our government institutions with budget friendly activities for families too. It also has wonderful restaurants with cuisines from all over the world.
If you ask my kids what their favorite vacation destination is, they will tell you it’s Disney World. Since 2009, we’ve been members of Disney Vacation Club. I’ll share my insights of DVC ownership with you. Here we are in 2023 and my babies are not so little anymore.
Currently, I’m a stay at home mom and I needed a break from it all. For all the moms that have ever wanted to get away by yourself–you know what I’m talking about. So I took a solo trip to Sydney, Australia for a few days with a stop in Melbourne. It was wonderful and I’m making plans to go to Australia again for a family vacation.
